Normal visiting hours are considered to be 11 am to 8 pm If you plan to visit outside of these hours, please ring the Home to notify us of this.

Please bear in mind that mornings are particularly busy so where possible try to visit after 11am.
Lunch times are also quite busy so if staff are busy, please bear with us while we ensure residents have their meals on time.
We do appreciate that in an emergency you may want to visit outside these hours, please liaise with the Manager Lavinia on +44 1582 505575 so staff are aware of this.

We hope you understand, we have been entrusted to support and care for our residents, who are vulnerable; we also have less staff on shift in the night so this really makes it quite unsafe for staff to be opening the door to visitors after this time.

About Us
Widecombe Nursing Home is a 37-bed, 24-hour nursing home, with nursing, care and auxiliary staff. Set in picturesque gardens in a quiet road in Luton, we offer a family atmosphere and understand this is our residents’ home. Our communal areas include a main lounge-dining room, family lounge, and conservatory, as well as access to our well-maintained rear gardens and memorial courtyard. New residents are encouraged to take our rooms as a blank canvas to make this space their home, for example with pictures or knick-knacks. We take those who are End of Life, need Palliative Care, as well as long-term medical/nursing needs, such as Parkinson’s, Strokes, Dementia

Mission Statement
- It is the objective of Widecombe Nursing Home to provide care for all residents to a standard of excellence which embraces fundamental principles of good care practice and that this may be witnessed and evaluated through the practice, conduct and control of quality of care of the home.
- It is the objective of the home that residents shall live in a clean, comfortable and safe environment and be treated with respect and sensitivity to their individual needs and abilities. Staff will be responsive to the individual needs of residents and will provide the appropriate degree of care to assure the highest possible quality of life within the home.
Activities
At Widecombe Nursing Home, we understand the importance of staying active and the positive effect this has on our residents’ emotional well-being and our residents are enabled to maintain appropriate levels of activity. Our Activities Coordinator has a rolling programme of activities for our residents, including bingo, chair yoga, arts and crafts, quizzes, bowling, to name a few. We also have regular visits from local entertainers and a mobile farm. We regularly consult with our residents and their families and friends about any other activities they would like to take part in.
